Becca Cosmetics X Jaclyn Hill "Champagne Pop" Illuminating Skin Finish Highlighter

If you are present in the makeup world, then you must of stumbled across this gold mine of a product, highlighting has become a huge trend lately, and as a result phrases such as "highlight on fleek" have become a great way to describe when one's highlight is so flawless it looks like you're a glowing goddess. I am yet to come across a product that achieves this so quickly and so perfectly as Becca's highlight in "Champagne Pop", made in collaboration with the ever flawless Jaclyn Hill.

Firstly i'd just like to say, I am a huge fan of Jaclyn, my hairdresser and I often talk about makeup and beauty YouTubers we like and around the start of last year she told me about Jaclyn and how incredibly skilled she was. Ofcourse, I went home and by the end of the day had watched at least 75% of her videos. It was safe to say I was obsessed. My day literally gets better when she posts a video. As a makeup artist, I am yet to come across anyone to explain their process or blend out their eyeshadow better than her. As a person, she is infectious, her bubbly nature and her hilarious personality are so mood lifting, you can't help but smile watching her gasp over new product swatches. The way she deals with negativity is simply commendable, I love that she does not put up with any drama from mean commenters and only spreads love and acceptance. I truly feel like the is best friends with everyone who watches her videos.

Just from the way she applies makeup, you can tell she knows her stuff, she knows what works, what doesn't and why it doesn't. Because of this, I knew before even trying this product that she would not put her name on something unless she personally loved it herself. (Which is clear from her use of it in almost every video!). When Sephora came to Australia, I marched right in, past every other product, grabbed a box of champagne pop, went straight to check out and purchased it. The second I got home, i grabbed my highlighting brush and proceeded to highlight my entire face. (I will be the first to admit I got a tad highlighter happy and ended up looking like an oscar statue but I didn't care) .

I had NEVER tried a highlighter that gave a noticeable golden glow to my skin. I tried it again the next day (properly this time, instead of just painting my face with it). I lightly dabbed my fluffy domed brush (Similar to a slightly larger version of MAC 226 eyeshadow blending Brush)into the compact of powdered gold and swept it on the top of my cheekbones. I had to let out a gasp of pure joy.
But gushing aside, this product is quite pricey, i believe around AUD$60, but you really do get bang for your buck, its a large product and a little goes a very long way.
Its one of those products I think every makeup aficionado should try once in their life.

Swatch - Natural Day Light
Now, down to the nitty gritty;
If you have super pale skin (I'm fairly pale, but I'm talking porcelain or NC10) this product may be a touch too gold for you. On days I want a lighter, more subtle look, I've found literally one tap of this with a lighter subtle highlighter (Such as hourglass ambient powder in Diffused Light) looks a little more subtle and light. If I have a tan, this highlighter only enhances it further which I absolutely love.

Swatch - Day Light with Flash
If you are not used to pigmented highlighters, start of LIGHT with this product. It is so highly pigmented and so soft, the smallest bit will go an incredibly long way.
I use this product with a Models Prefer Dual Purpose Highlighter & Contour Brush - MPD103 (I bought mine at Priceline) as i love the soft yet district highlight, I am yet to try it with a fan brush to see the difference, but I imagine it would give a much more subtle glow. It's super buildable and blendable, so you are definitely much better off starting with a small amount and adding more.

I have never, and I don't think I will ever, love a highlighter more.
People who know me and put up with my constant snaps captioning "highlighter game STRONG" know that this is my ride or die product (another Jaclyn term I love!)
I love it so much that when ever I travel I literally wrap it in bubble wrap to protect it!

The packaging is fairly sturdy, but be very careful with it. Because it is so densely pigmented, the powder is prone to cracking if dropped.
Overall, this is definitely one of my favourite highlighters and I must give serious thanks to Jaclyn for not being afraid to make a strong, bright highlighter that is so complementary on so many people.

Let me know in the comments below if you have used this products and your thoughts!

Available online at Sephora for AUD$60

Until next time,
